Transition time is occurring in Devils Lake!!

As we get farther into fall, we are starting to see some changes. Fish are really all over. As always, it is all about bait. Seems like the areas on the lake that hold the most bait are the deeper rocks (flooded roads, rock piles, and the old shorelines). There are fish in shallow as well. We tend to work the weed lines in shallower (8-12ft). The bridges have also been pretty good. Best bite is usually in the early morning or the evening. Vertical jigging has been the best presentation at or near the bridges. Look for the bridge bite to get better and better as we continue into fall.
So....work deeper rocks or shallower weeds. Seems like the fish have really transitioned to these two locations. If you aren't getting the results you want in these locations, work the bridges!

To cover water efficiently and quickly, either troll cranks or pull bottom bouncers and spinners. There are fish in the shallows and deep, so don't be afraid to work both areas. Lastly, with all the young of the year bait in the lake, really watch your electronics. Often you will find large schools of bait on you depth finder, remember that walleyes, perch, and pike are not far away from the bait!!

Good luck to all anglers and all the teams in the tournament!!!
