Persistence is the key...

The bite seems to be picking up!! We are catching pike, walleyes, and perch. Seems like our locations, depths, and even presentations vary daily, but at the end of the day we are producing some respectable bags!
Walleyes have been caught most consistently in 8-25 ft of water, seems like early and mid afternoon are the best windows. Perch are kind of the wild card fish, with days where we catch good numbers of them and other days we just do so so. Overall, we are doing pretty well on perch through hard work and persistence. Pike fishing is phenomenal right now. We are catching them in  numbers and size. Water is clear so we have been sight fishing them and spearing some too.

Ice is still good, just use caution around current areas and breakers!!!!

Good luck to all in the tournament this weekend!

Find the flurry...

The bite has been hit and miss. Seems like there are days that they will go and there are days they just look at your lure. Somewhat tricky to predict what causes aggressive fish one day and negative fish the next.
We are constantly looking for the next flurry...Whether it be perch, walleye, or pike, our augers are getting quite the workouts.
Bites seem to vary a quite a bit as well. We have caught fish as shallow as 6 and as deep as 40. Seems like the walleye action is best in the 8-24 ft range  in the morning and afternoon and the perch action is best in 14-36 ft.
As far as lures go...buckshots, halis, tungsten jigs, forage minnows, and dropper rigs have all produced. More importantly than the lure is location, so cover water and find that active school!
Weather has been very pleasant! It is nice  to be able to fish outside in January and hole hop if you want!
Good luck to all!!

Fish are cooperating!!

We have had some excellent perch, pike, and walleye bites this past week!
Seems like we are constantly moving and working depths from 6-50 ft, but we are putting smiles on our clients faces!
Weather is finally warming up which is so needed! We will continue to search all the holes we can think of and even try a few random places here and there cause you never know where the next bite will produce....
What we know...perch bites are up and down but if you are willing to move and work a bit, positive results are happening. Walleyes are best early and from 3pm to dark. Seems like areas are changing constantly, one night hot and the next just so so.
Pike are all over and water clarity is great. Sight fishing, tip ups, and spearing had been full of excitement!

Clients are really liking our new lodge The Fish Rehab!! Check it out at www.brysguideservice.com

There are videos and pictures, it is beautiful!

Devils lake bite...

Fishing on Devils Lake has been a bit tougher than last year but we at Bry's Guide Service have been working hard looking for new bites. The last week we have been targeting Walleyes in the mornings and evenings and Perch in the middle of the day; often times getting limits of "eater" sized Walleyes. Perch have been more plentiful on sunny days but still gettin em' on overcast days. Both Walleyes and Perch have been a bit "finicky" and require more coaxing. We've been fishing 4-40 FOW for both Perch and Walleyes with the shallower water having a more aggressive bite.
